Learn to identify issues, events and trends that need to be covered in the news. Understand how to research, reach out to and convince relevant people to publish on themes you identify. Gain experience in initiating first contact, building relationships and onboarding new voices into Fair Observer’s global community.

Responsibilities:

b) research/source contributors

c) communicate with team members & contributors

Multimedia Intern

Learn to create video, audio and visual content in support of Fair Observer’s programs and mission. Gain experience in developing an overall multimedia strategy and storytelling style, and build your portfolio while producing content for Fair Observer programs and events.

Responsibilities:

a) assist the Editorial Board with the editorial agenda

b) co-produce videos and/or podcasts

c) research/source multimedia contributors

d) communicate with team members & contributors

e) promote content to subject experts

f) attend meetings via online conference calls

Fundraising Intern

Learn how to deploy, develop and evaluate a variety of fundraising strategies to help staff with fundraising campaigns, including planning and executing special events ranging in size from 20 to 300 people. Experience the full fundraising lifecycle from identification and qualification to cultivation, then solicitation and, finally, stewardship.

Responsibilities:

a) co-write proposals and letters of interest for grants and sponsorship

b) identify and communicate with potential funders

c) co-develop funder opportunities for supporting the organization

d) attend meetings via online conference call 

e) negotiate funding terms

f) assist with grant reporting

g) document current processes and recommend improvements

Digital Marketing Intern

Learn skills required to become a digital marketing assistant: content and social media marketing, digital marketing analytics, paid online advertising, search engine optimization and email marketing. 

Responsibilities:

a) conceive and implement social media and email campaigns

b) source and build relationships with thought leaders in the areas we cover

c) liaise closely with the editorial team

d) attend meetings via online conference call

Information/Graphic Design Intern

Learn to transform information into insights, use data to communicate visually, become proficient with professional design tools, and apply and develop brand and program identities.

Responsibilities:

a) develop graphics based on complex topics in world affairs

b) create infographics and illustrations

c) co-produce short and long-form digital publications
