Avichal is a freethinker and a theorist. He has been associated with the world of special forces as a practitioner, instructor, designer, administrator, institution builder and adviser for over two decades and has operated and trained in many countries of the world. He specializes, among other things, in security and crisis analysis, anticipation, preparedness, administration, response and resolution. He published a book Dignity of Life: Moral Philosophy, Organisational Theory, and Hostage Rescue (New Delhi: IK International, 2023), which is the only scholarly and most comprehensive work in the field of mass hostage rescue to date. He lives in India.
