Warigia Bowman

Dr. Warigia Bowman earned her doctorate at Harvard at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Dr. Bowman also holds degrees from University of Texas at Austin and Columbia University in New York. Her research is multi-disciplinary, and is informed by the fields of anthropology, history, political science and public policy. She is keenly interested in rural development issues, both in the United States and in Africa. Bowman has significant work experience in the public sector at the federal, state and local level in the United States. She served at the United States Department of Justice as an honors trial attorney in the Environment Division during the Clinton Administration. She has taught in Africa at Kabarak University in Nakuru, Kenya. She also has significant experience consulting for African NGOs including the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) the African Technology Policy Network and the New Economic Partnership for African Development (NEPAD). She has lectured internationally in Portugal, Kenya, and England. She is fluent in English and German and proficient in Swahili.
