Laura is a lecturer in Communication and Cultural Studies at the University of California, San Diego. She holds a degree in Hispanic Philology from Complutense University, Madrid, and a PhD in Latin American, Iberian and Latino Cultures from City University of New York. She is the co-editor of the fanzine Que si Quiero o que si Tengo (QSQOQST) and writes fiction, academic criticism and reviews of books, films and current affairs.
