Katherine Allen, PhD, is Professor Emerita of Human Development and Family Science at Virginia Tech and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Family Theory & Review, one of the flagship journals of the National Council on Family Relations. Her areas of expertise include feminist family science, LGBTQ+ families, and intersectional family diversity and social justice over the life course. Active in her community, she facilitates a support group for bereaved parents, serves on the board of directors for a retirement community, participates in Virginia Tech’s Lifelong Learning Institute and serves on the steering committee of Defending Democracy.
