Florian Schneider is a German political scientist who serves as the Chair Professor of Modern China at Leiden University. He earned his Master’s degree in Sinology, Political Science and Economics from the University of Hamburg and completed his PhD at the University of Sheffield. His professional experience includes directing the Leiden Asia Centre and serving as Managing Editor for the peer-reviewed journal Asiascape: Digital Asia. Schneider’s extensive research explores political communication, digital media politics and regional governance. An award-winning educator, he has published prominent books, including China’s Digital Nationalism, through Oxford University Press. He analyzes how digital technologies reshape geopolitical discourse, propaganda and East Asian international relations.
