Ankita M. Kumar is a journalist and filmmaker based in San Francisco. She currently teaches journalism at the University of California, Berkeley. Ankita has worked at several news outlets in the US and India. She is a recipient of the Professional Excellence Award from the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in the United States (AFPC-USA). Ankita's film, Far from Home, is set to premiere at the American Documentary and Animation Film Festival in March 2024. In her free time, she learns Hindustani classical music and dabbles in musical theatre. Ankita holds two masters's degrees: one in journalism, the other in international relations and history.
