In 1998, Mohammad joined the University of Wasit and studied English literature, graduating in 2003. In May 2003, he worked as a watchman at Mercy Corps, an American nongovernmental organization, and then as radio operator, logistics and procurement assistant, later as a community relations officer and then finally as a security adviser. During 2012, he worked with UNESCO as security coordinator for six months.
