Dr. Shailesh Nayak is the Chairman of the Earth System Science Organization (ESSO), and the Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES). He has worked for 29 years at the Indian Space Research Organisation and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services. He has previously served as the President of the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, and the Technical Commission IV on “Geo-databases and Digital Mapping.
