Peter Kirechu

Peter Kirechu is the Joseph S. Nye, Jr. research intern for the Middle East Studies Program. At the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), he works on security stabilization and counterterrorism assistance to the Middle East, with focus on Iraq and the Levant. Before coming to the CNAS, Kirechu completed an internship at the Rafik Hariri Center for the Middle East, where he supported research on the Syrian Civil War and its humanitarian and security impacts. He also previously interned with the US Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. Kirechu was a 2013 David L. Boren Scholar to Jordan and has also conducted field research on clandestine migration in Morocco. He is a graduate of the George Washington University and a current graduate student at Mercyhurst University.
