Mary Harrod

Mary Harrod is an assistant professor in French film at the University of Warwick. Her primary research is in contemporary film and media, with an emphasis on popular modes. In addition to book chapter and journal articles, she recently wrote a book on the phenomenal contemporary proliferation of the French romantic comedy. Prior to that, she coedited a collection entitled “The Europeanness of European Cinema: Identity, Meaning, Globalization” (2015), examining the status of European cinema today. Her current research tracks two interrelated axes: the transnational circulation and shaping of French identity through the nation's audiovisual exports and the significance of women's contribution to mainstream genre film and television production, principally in France and Hollywood.
