Dr. Hemant Kanakia is an Indian serial entrepreneur and retired venture capitalist who was an early innovator in computer networking. His passion for technological innovation and higher education led him to co-found the Maker Bhavan Foundation. Hemant earned his PhD in electrical engineering at Stanford University and worked at AT&T Bell Labs, where he holds several international patents. He has founded several innovative technology startups and invested in early-stage technology companies in the United States, Israel and India. Hemant also served on the board of trustees of Case Western Reserve University, Virginia Polytechnic and The IndUS Entrepreneurs. He is keenly interested in technology policy and entrepreneurship.
