Alvina Ahmed is an American analyst. Her research interests focus on nuclear deterrence, arms control, US defense strategy and transatlantic security. Currently, she is a Nuclear Scholar with the Project on Nuclear Issues (PONI) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Previously, Alvina served as the Defense Rising Expert with Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) and as a Nuclear Risk Reduction Fellow with the Nolan Center on Strategic Weapons at the Council on Strategic Risks. Alvina holds an MA in international affairs from the School of International Service at American University and a BA in English from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She speaks French and German and has studied and lived in Switzerland and Germany.
