Akil N. Awan is an Associate Professor in Modern History, Political Violence and Terrorism at Royal Holloway, University of London. He also serves as the Director of Undergraduate Studies in History and the Deputy Director of the Humanities and Arts Research Centre at the university. In addition, he is also a Research Associate with the New Political Communication Unit, the Centre for Public History and the Centre for Minority Studies. His current research interests are focused around the history of terrorism; processes of radicalization; political violence, social movements and protest; new media; and contemporary religion.
