Ratan Kumar Roy is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at South Asian University in New Delhi, a university founded by the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation nations. Previously, he taught at BRAC University in Dhaka. He was a Charles Wallace Bangladesh Trust Postdoctoral Visiting Fellow at the South Asia Centre of the London School of Economics in the UK during 2022-23. Dr. Roy is affiliated with Kyung Hee University in South Korea and the University of Sunshine Coast in Australia. He received training in Anthropology and Sociology at the University of Dhaka and South Asian University, and has experience as a television journalist in Bangladesh. In 2018, he was a Residency Fellow at the Asia Culture Centre in South Korea. He has published books and journal articles on South Asian politics, culture, media and society.
