Melanie O’Brien is a Researcher for Anti-Slavery Australia (University of Technology Sydney), and the recipient of a 2015 post-doctoral research fellowship at the TC Beirne Law School at the University of Queensland, Australia. She is on the Editorial Boards of Human Rights Review and Genocide Studies and Prevention. O’Brien is a member of the International Association of Genocide Scholars’ Advisory Board and the QLD International Humanitarian Law Committee of the Australian Red Cross. She is an admitted legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW. She has previously worked at Griffith University, the National Human Rights Institution of Samoa and the International Criminal Court.
