Professor Mariana Llanos is Lead Research Fellow at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies, Hamburg, and a professor of democratic institutions at the University of Erfurt. Originally from Argentina, she has lived in Germany for more than twenty years. Her current research focuses on political institutions and executive–legislature–judiciary relations in Latin America, focusing mostly on Argentina and Brazil. She has been a co-editor of the Journal of Politics in Latin America since 2021
