Lawrence Gonzi

Lawrence Gonzi is a former prime minister of Malta (2004-13). He guided Malta through an economic restructuring process ahead of the country’s adoption of the euro in 2008, and he successfully steered the economy during the most severe global economic crisis. He also took a leading role in the handling of the Libyan crisis in 2011, gaining the respect of the international community. With a political career spanning 25 years, Gonzi occupied several positions prior to becoming prime minister, including deputy prime minister, minister for social policy and speaker of the house of representatives. A lawyer by profession, he is currently a senior partner and consultant with Gonzi & Associates.
