Héctor Javier Sánchez-Pérez is Titular Researcher and Head of the Academic Group of Health, Gender, and Social Inequality at the Department of Health in The College of the Southern Border (ECOSUR). His major research contributions concern tuberculosis and other infectious diseases of poverty. He is coauthor of more than 65 articles in major international public health journals * He coauthored twelve books and numerous chapters on epidemiology and public health and is author and lecturer in diploma courses on pulmonary tuberculosis, nutritional security, and gender, social and domestic violence. He has been a member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers, Level 1 since 2000. In 2025, he was elected president of the Mexican Network for the Study of Tuberculosis (ReMexTB).
