Carole McGranahan is a scholar of contemporary Tibet. She holds a PhD in anthropology and history from the University of Michigan, and is currently Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Colorado. She is the author of Arrested Histories: Tibet, the CIA, and Memories of a Forgotten War (Duke University Press, 2010) and is co-editor of "Self Immolation as Protest in Tibet" (special issue of the journal Cultural Anthropology, 2012).
