Ashwani Mahajan is an author, columnist, professor and policy wonk. He is the national co-convenor of Swadeshi Jagran Manch and teaches economics at the University of Delhi. Mahajan’s efforts led to the Indian government’s withdrawal of a controversial ordinance on land acquisition. He has influenced the government’s foreign direct investment policy, especially on retail trade and e-commerce. Mahajan convinced the government to withdraw from the China-led Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) deal. He believes in an equitable development mode that cares about the last man in the queue and favors integrating growth with employment generation.
