Claire Downing is a PhD student at George Mason University’s School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, where she studies countering violent extremism policies and other systems of oppression. She currently works in a philanthropic role with Muslim, Arab and South Asian communities in the US on racial and social justice. Her prior work includes roles in international development/legal empowerment, anti-corruption and on the Hill. Downing has a Bachelor of Arts in Global Affairs from George Mason University and a Master of Arts in International Affairs, with a concentration in conflict and conflict resolution, from the George Washington University. She is the 2019 human rights fellow at Young Professionals in Foreign Policy.
