Fair Observer Monthly is a chance for you to sit down, look back and think about the month past. A month lasts 28 to 31 days, a suitably appropriate time to take stock of the world. We publish daily on our website and we select some of our best articles every month in our e-magazine. We will give you context and multiple perspectives on issues that matter. We will inform and educate you. Fair Observer Monthly does what we promise: make sense of the world.

This month saw great shifts after a regime change in Washington. Veteran NATO official Michael Rühle countered calls for a US exit from the alliance, arguing that while allies must contribute more, the alliance remains a key tool for American influence and deterrence. FO° Chief Strategy Officer Peter Isackson chronicled the ongoing power struggle within the MAGA movement, as figures like Vivek Ramaswamy, Nikki Haley, Steve Bannon and Elon Musk compete to shape its future. Lawyer Andrew Morrow examined US President Donald Trump’s revived interest in territorial expansion, suggesting his Greenland proposal is likely a hardball negotiating tactic, while his desire to reassert American control over the Panama Canal seems far more serious. Historian Dominic Alessio explored the historical echoes of Trump’s leadership, questioning whether his return marks a shift toward imperial ambition. Meanwhile, economist Masaaki Yoshimori analyzed how Trump’s trade and monetary policies — especially tariffs and the dollar’s role — are reshaping global markets, adding another layer of uncertainty to Washington’s geopolitical strategy.
