Roya Kabiri is an Afghan American storyteller and advocate based in Orange County, California. Born a refugee in Iran, she and her family fled systemic discrimination and spent 13 years as refugees in Russia before resettling in the United States. Roya graduated from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona with a degree in public relations and a minor in journalism. She has worked with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and served as a translator of Farsi and Russian for nonprofits supporting Afghan and Ukrainian refugees. Her experiences navigating displacement have shaped her passion for human rights, social justice and storytelling. In her spare time, Roya enjoys writing, photography and exploring how art fosters resilience and resistance.
