Francis Ghiles

Francis Ghiles is one of the leading European experts on the Maghreb region. A senior fellow at the European Institute of the Mediterranean, he specializes on security, energy and political trends in North Africa and the western Mediterranean. During his career as a journalist, he spent 18 years writing for the Financial Times and also freelanced for a number of newspapers, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Le Monde. He has published numerous articles in French, English and Spanish and is a frequent commentator for print and broadcast media. Ghiles earned advanced degrees at St. Antony’s College, Oxford and the University of Keele.
