German Kim is Chief Researcher of KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Director of the Center for Korean Studies at al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

As visiting Professor he was teaching on Diaspora issues in HUFS (Seoul, 2004), Institute of Humanities UM, Ann Arbor (2006) and at his alma mater - KazNU. 

Professor Kim has served as Vice President of the Association of Koreans in Kazakhstan for the last ten years, and finds this is good opportunity to combine theory and practice of diasporic existence. 

His main academic interests are focused on World Korean Diasporas and he has published over a hundred papers, originally in Russian, but translated into foreign languages. Of those there are two books that are particularly noteworthy on the history of the Korean immigration. The third volume is in the making.
