Edward Hugh is an independent macro economist, who specializes in growth and productivity theory, with particular emphasis on demographic processes and migration flows, and the impact of these on macroeconomic performance.

Based in Barcelona, Edward is an active member of the Catalan economics community. He is currently an informal adviser to the new Catalan government, and member of the executive board of Catalunya Caixa.
Edward studied at the LSE in the late 1960s, where he obtained his BSc in Economics. He earned his MSc in the philosophy and sociology of science from Manchester University.

He is engaged in ongoing research on aging, longevity, fertility and migration, and the impact of the same on economic growth.
