Daniel Kondo was born in Passo Fundo, a small town in the South of Brazil, and lives today in Sao Paulo. The artist has worked for the most important advertising agencies, newspapers and magazines of Brazil. Kondo is now the Chief Art Director for Le Monde Diplomatique Brasil and is one of the head illustrators for the most important newspaper in Brazil, O Estado de S. Paulo.

Kondo has won many awards in his career, including Best Editorial Cartoon at the Rio de Janeiro International Festival and the New Horizons Award at the Bologna Book Fair, in 2010. He has attended FLIP (Paraty International Book Fair), where he gave a lecture about the use of digital technology in illustration. Since 2002 he is a member of IBBY (International Board Books for Young People), entity that promotes the integration among writers and artists around the world.
