Lana Asfour is a journalist based in Beirut and London, and writes about Middle East politics, culture, and books. Her work has appeared in the Times, the Observer, the New Statesman, the Daily Star Beirut, the BBC World Service, Granta, and the New York Review of Books blog, among others.
She has a D.Phil. (Ph.D.) from Oxford University, was a visiting researcher at the École Normale Supérieure, and has taught at Queen Mary, University of London. Her first book, on Anglo-French literary relations in the eighteenth century, was favourably reviewed by the Times Literary Supplement and other journals, and she is one of Granta’s ‘New Voices’.
