Jesse Jenkins is Director of Energy and Climate Policy at the Breakthrough Institute, an Oakland, California based public policy think tank. Jesse is a featured writer and advisory board member at the Energy Collective. He is the founder and chief editor of WattHead.org, a site for energy news and commentary. Jesse previously worked as Research and Policy Associate at the Renewable Northwest Project, a renewable energy advocacy organization, and as a researcher and teacher’s assistant for the Department of Physics at the University of Oregon. Most of the article published here in Fair Observer was drawn from “Energy Emergence: Rebound and Backfire as Emergent Phenomena,” a comprehensive review of the literature and evidence for rebound effects which he wrote along with Ted Nordhaus and Michael Shellenberger in 2011.
