Hala Almousawi obtained a BA in International Relations from the University of Westminster, and an MSc in Middle East Politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London.

Her research interests include: democratisation and state-building processes in Iraq, the resilience of Gulf Monarchies in the Arab Spring, and Shi'a political movements in the Middle East.
