Ms. Mullin is currently working on finishing her book entitled: ‘Constructing Political Islam as the New Other: America and its Post-War on Terror Politics’, which will be published by I.B. Tauris in the fall. In it, Ms. Mullin examines the epistemological, historical and ideological roots and manifold contemporary expressions of the discourse on political Islam in the US. She also demonstrates how this discourse has come to perform both an identity- constructing/affirming role, as well as a politically expedient, rhetorical justificatory function in mainstream political thought and action vis-à-vis the Muslim world.
