Anthony “Anton” Gokianluy is an undergraduate at the University of Chicago currently completing his double major in Economics and Political Science. At the University of Chicago, Anton is involved with the Filipino organization Kababayan (KBB) as Treasurer and Director of Fundraising where he helps raise awareness of the Filipino culture within the campus community.
Anton is a research analyst for the University of Chicago Microfinance Initiative (UCMI), and takes on consulting or investing roles with microfinance and investment institutions to formulate best practices to improve their business, media, or financial operations. He is also the Director of Programming for ECOnomics, an organization that analyzes the environmental impact of businesses and its financial implications. His research focus and interest is on the food industry and on issues of national concern, which range from illegal mining to the lack of Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs).
