Alia read Philosophy at the University of Edinburgh, before moving to Oxford, where she completed an MPhil and then a DPhil in International Relations. She is currently a research fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Before moving to the LSE, she was a Research Fellow at the Department of Politics and International Relations and St. Antony’s College Oxford, where she taught a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including her special paper on Islam in International Relations. Combining her interests in normative theory and international politics, Alia’s book explores the moral justifications which have accompanied the resort to violence in the ‘war on terror’. It was published by Oxford University Press in November 2010. Dr. Brahimi frequently appears in the British and international media, analyzing unfolding events in the Middle East and North Africa.
