Loomit: From Crime to Fame
Loomit: From Crime to Fame
Mathias Köhler a.k.a. Loomit
Graffiti has defined German artist Loomit’s life and career. It all started as an illegal hobby when as a 14 year old, he sprayed his first graffiti on a water tower in his home town in 1983. Despite the fact that he had to face legal consequences several times for spraying trains and walls Loomit’s passion for graffiti art did not vanish and because of his talent, opportunities to pursue it legally arose soon. He painted the bathroom of Munich’s mayor Christian Ude in 1993 and set a Guinness World record for the highest graffiti in the world in 1995. Along with graffiti he also developed a passion for travelling and soon started combining the two. Not only did he learn the art of tattooing from famous graffiti artist Seen in New York, Loomit has also participated in various graffiti projects around Europe and in other parts of the world such as Brazil, China and South Africa to name only a few. Today he is one of Germany’s most influential and well known graffiti artists and is a role model for everyone with a passion for urban art.
