Global Change
Launch of Global Change: a section to capture the myriad ways in which institutions and individuals are changing the world
Invitation
Individuals and institutions are working to change the world through efforts as diverse as promoting literacy or saving the rainforests. We are writing to invite the publication of articles, photo features and even video on the issues where you are trying to bring change for the better.
We believe educating the world about these issues is important and we are starting a new section titled “Global Change” where your work will be published. Articles should be in the 800-1500 words range. They can be about specific issues such as creating low-cost housing or conceptual issues such as subsidies to the press. The articles cannot be promotional pieces. The promotional material can be part of the profile page of the author where we give you the opportunity to put up three web links. Both institutions and individuals can be authors. This is your chance to reach a worldwide audience and stimulate a global conversation.
About us
Fair Observer is a media platform that focuses on analysis instead of news – why something is happening rather than what is happening is the question we seek to answer. To answer the why, we provide a plurality of perspectives from around the world - what we call a 360° view.
We have an international panel of eminent advisers, including John Bruton, the former Irish Prime Minister; and Olivier Fleurot, the former CEO of the Financial Times Group. We have a fast- growing community of more than 300 contributors from over 30 countries who have published articles, presentations, photo features and cartoons on our site. Our editors live in six continents and select only the most rigorous, insightful and interesting submissions from our contributors. Our audience is influential and international – our website has been visited by people from over 160 countries.
Fair Observer is the world’s first truly global media company.
Mission
Media has always had a duty to society to inform and to educate. At a time of growing globalization, it is failing in this duty. The media world is suffering a crisis of reliability: fewer sources of information are credible and reputable. Sensationalism, poor analysis and lack of context proliferate, yielding poorly informed citizens. Fair Observer aims to inform and educate, and fulfill its duty to society.
Society is becoming increasingly multicultural, the world is ever more interconnected; yet mainstream media is still ethnocentric. It shuts out valuable perspectives and gives a monochromatic view based on nationality or ideology. For the first time, the Internet enables citizens to converse directly with each other and set the agenda. Fair Observer is leading the charge to create a truly global dialogue.
